"I haven't found the pause button in my life for a long time and to quote Sting 'Doing nothing is a gift I don't have'. That's why this song comes at exactly the right time, because after 18 years I'm actually taking a break for the first time and really going off the grid in 2024 and I've accepted it and I'm taking this break and looking forward to returning with lots of new stories." Johannes Oerding: "Doing nothing is a gift I don't have" - Sting

Both jan SEVEN dettwyler and Johannes Oerding have been on the road for 20 years, in the studio or on tour. Both are perfectionists, singers of the old school and also stand for real handmade music live. Both are often described as ambitious and are welcome and respected in all genres and musical corners. It's no wonder that both have accompanied "Sing meinen Song" once as guests and four times as hosts, because there aren't many musicians of this caliber in the German-speaking world. They have been talking about doing a song together for almost 10 years. Now the right song has happened and they press stop.

jan SEVEN dettwyler and Johannes Oerding have known each other for 12 years. They crossed paths at a big music session in Switzerland, where Johannes was the guest singer and Jan was in the audience. The two got to know each other backstage. In addition to music, the two of them are connected by being hosts on the TV format Sing meinen Song, and in very concrete terms: "Jan is the host in Switzerland and I'm the host in Germany and when I got the request back then I called him and wanted to know how he does it and how he prepares. Nerds among themselves, so to speak," laughs Johannes.

After several meetings, they finally got to perform together at the "Seven Sunday Brunch" in 2022. Jan remembers exactly: "When we rehearsed the song for the first time just on the guitar an hour before the performance, I realized how incredibly well it would fit when we sang together."

"Then I just had to wait until the right song happened to me and I called Johannes and here we are." - jan SEVEN dettwyler

As it is, if you have a few things in common and you harmonize, then you think to yourself and say something like this in music circles: we have to make a song together. Time passes or you don't have the right song, but suddenly it can happen. "Jan just sent me a voice message out of nowhere with 'I've got the song' and sent the song afterwards and I was actually in love with it. I asked if anything else needed to be changed and he said no and then everything was clear and good to go." Jan says about the song: "Short on stop suits us both, because we have a funny life and every day is different, always highway and cheers & hustle and bustle. But you can't always go full throttle and so this song is like a reminder and a mantra at the same time: we have to take it to heart to press stop every now and then".
